As Republican Members on the House Homeland Security Committee, we write to urge you to embrace an all-of-the-above approach to border security, including construction of a physical barrier. Both sides can agree, there is no single answer to the challenges that accompany securing America s thousands of miles of borders. However, investing in 21st-century technology, manpower, and physical barriers will stem the flow of illegal immigration, drugs, and human trafficking.

As elected officials, we all can agree how important it is to secure our homeland while facilitating lawful trade and travel into the United States. Providing sufficient funding for barriers, as well as additional border patrol agents, surveillance detection technology, access roads, and other infrastructure is critical to improve our homeland security and to stem the tide of illegal activity at our border.

Our number one job as Members of Congress is to protect American lives. We fervently believe border security, including the all-of-the-above approach is imperative to protecting American lives. We stand at the ready to assist in any way possible.

Background: The House Homeland Security Committee has jurisdiction over border, port and maritime security and oversight jurisdiction over the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
